Teaching Philosophy

I am committed to working with young people and I strongly believe all children can learn. I have consistently high academic expectations of all students and my goal is to get the best possible outcomes for each and every student. In order to assist students to identify their learning goals, perform at their highest level and achieve success; I design engaging and flexible learning. I am committed to developing the whole child. I help students to act responsibly with compassion, respect and tolerance and my belief is students can and will relate to the importance of honesty and ‘a fair go’.  I am committed to assisting each student to develop a positive sense of self-worth.

It is important that I assist learners in developing an ability to see the world as others see it and to accept differences of opinions. By having a classroom responsive to social crises and world events, I provide a safe place in which conflict and conflict resolution can be explored. My goal is to establish, communicate and maintain clear expectations for student learning and behavior, and to apply behavior management strategies in a fair and consistent manner. In support of anti-bullying policies, I create a classroom climate which has a sense of purpose and achievement by transforming the classroom into a community responsive to routine, structure and fair play.

I value the contribution of parents and caregivers to the education of their children and I will work with families to promote student learning. I work to understand the cultural, social and economic characteristics and aspirations of students and families. With personalized support, I create a classroom culture that supports every student towards academic and social success.  Furthermore, I am committed to reflective practice and on-going professional renewal as it improves my teaching and delivery. I am personally enthusiastic about learning and explicitly model lifelong learning skills.
